you forgot it in people
Attended Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing’s “Labor of Love: 26 Poets on Valentine’s Day” @Tomato Bomb Cafe
It was actually a pretty interesting night. At least now, I can say Valentine’s Day wasn’t a total waste. And I at least now, I can say I have been armed with poetry I may find useful (or relate-able to) in the future:
“I love you, a poet’s cheap words.” (I forgot who said this!)
“How does one enter/ How does one leave/ Is there some exit we don’t know about?” -Khavn dela Cruz
“Why do we judge these skydivers/ for man’s unfaithfulness” (Again, I forgot who said this)
“How your mouth took me in so deep.” -Mia Tijam
Mmm, so maybe the latter is a point of contention for the relate-able bit, but regardless. I’ve come away from this poetry night somewhat sleepy, but highly invigorated.
Valentine’s Day isn’t so bad for the single ones after all.
